MURDER INQUIRY LAUNCHED
POLICE in the area have launched a murder enquiry after the body of a man was pulled from the River Leven.
Michael Herbison's, who resided at Renton's Tontine Park, was first reported missing at around 12.40pm on Tuesday.
A full search was then carried out involving the use of police dogs and a helicopter but the 35-year-old's body was recovered from the river near to the Dalquhurn Estate at around 8pm.
A post mortem was due to be carried out yesterday (Wednesday), to establish the exact cause of death, however police are treating the death as murder.
His relatives have now been made aware of his death and officers are appealing for any information from the public which might help them catch whoever is responsible.
Detective Inspector Mark Stewart of Dumbarton Police Office said: "At this time there are extensive police enquiries ongoing in the local area to establish the exact details surrounding this death.
"Officers are carrying out house to house enquiries and gathering CCTV footage in an effort to glean more information.
