Folk group is ready to light up the stage
A UNIQUE band is tuning up for one of its biggest gigs to date - as they prepare to share a stage with their music idols.
Have Mercy Las Vegas have seen their popularity soar in recent months after wowing audiences with their energetic performances and stunning folk music songs all with a modern twist.
The five piece group - who are all from West Dunbartonshire - will now appear alongside Seahorses star Chris Helme and Blutones rocker Mark Morriss and a host of other local talent at the up coming Denny Civic Accoustic Night next month.
The gig is being put on by Northern Soul Promotions, which earlier this month brought Happy Mondays legend Bez to the Burgh Bar.
Last week, band member Stephen Scott told the Reporter that the group couldn't wait to get on stage and do their thing.
He said: "We were all huge fans of the Seahorses and Bluetones when we were growing up.
"We were trying to strum along chords on guitars to their songs when we were kids so it's going to be good to meet, and play on the same stage, as some of our idols. It's a great thing for Dumbarton and that's where our roots are. Also it's ideally suited for our sound. We just need to turn up and do what we usually do.
"We all put a lot into our gigs and because we are so varied in terms of our instruments.
"We are upbeat and we harmonise really well and we look like we are having a good time when we are playing.
"We want everybody else to enjoy it and it shows throughout in the music we play that we are having a good time.
"As far as I'm aware there's nobody doing the cross between modern and folk that we are doing." The band has now developed a large number of fans thanks to their unique blend of instruments which include a ukelele, accordion, percussion, banjo, guitar, bass and a mandolin.
Tickets for the Denny Civic Accoustic Night on February 11 are £10 in advance and can be bought from the band or News ans Chews on Dumbarton High Street.
