Weather warning for torrential rain
THE Met Office has increased the level of its warning for heavy rainfall across many parts of central Scotland
The risk has been scaled up today from a yellow to an amber alert, meaning people should be prepared to take action.
The warning is valid until midnight and covers the Strathclyde area.
According to the Met Office, Scattered heavy showers or thunderstorms are likely with the potential for "torrential downpours".
Residents should be aware that these showers, where they occur, may lead to surface water flooding.
