YOUNGSTERS from Dumbarton and the Vale will be able to take advantage of a new mountain bike track in the area after ambitious plans for the project were voted through.

At the recent meeting of the Planning Committee councillors agreed to allow the construction of a mountain bike trail and training track at land to the north-east of Bellsmyre's Allan Crescent.

The development will see two different types of cycling facilities established with a 'mini 4X track' - which would be suitable for both beginners and advanced riders - built between the vacant high flats and farmland.

The neighbouring land behind St Peter's Primary School and Murroch Avenue would also be utilised to allow a 'skills loop', a more challenging obstacle course which would to allow bikers to develop their skills.

It is hoped the new track will benefit kids from the area as well as bringing in riders from further afield to the area.
