After racing to gold in the 200m breaststroke on Thursday, Murdoch followed that up with a bronze medal in the 100m race tonight.
But although he has secured himself global fame, Ross said: "I don't forget my roots, I know exactly where I'm from - I'm a Vale boy and it is great to be here representing the people from back home.
"I heard there was a lot of things going on back home at the Vale of Leven pool and I just want to thank everybody down there."
Murdoch returns to the pool tomorrow morning for the 50m breaststroke heats.
