Tributes have flooded in for Isabel Barr, the former chairperson of Cordale Housing Association in Renton.
Isabel sat on the Management Committee for over 20 years, having only resigned due to ill health, and died on June 23 after a short illness.
Margaret McCallion, chairwoman of Cordale Housing Association, told the Reporter: “Isabel deserves enormous recognition for what she achieved at Cordale. She was passionate to achieve for her community. To participate on the committee for over 20 years is a remarkable achievement that provides an insight as to what kind of person she was.
“Her resilience, character, and determination were inspiring. Isabel was a special person who will be greatly missed.” Isabel led the association as it established a partnership with Caledonia Housing Association.
Julie Cosgrove, CEO of Caledonia, said: “I found Isabel to be one of the most strong willed and resilient women I have ever met. Her dedication and commitment to Cordale and to Renton was inspirational. I will miss her and her positive outlook to the most challenging of times. On behalf of all at Caledonia Housing Association our deepest sympathies are with the family.” Her funeral was held on Monday, June 29 at St Martin’s Chapel, Renton at 9.30am.
