Sir Jackie Stewart’s high honour
CERTIFICATE: Sir Jackie and with Lady Helen
LIVING legend Sir Jackie Stewart admitted that being handed the freedom of his hometown in front of his family ranked among his best achievements.
In a unique day of celebration on Friday, to mark the life of the most famous son of the Rock, a special plaque was also unveiled at the Dumbuck home where Sir Jackie came into the world 70 years ago.
The Flying Scot, as the three-time Formula One racing champ was affectionately known during his illustrious career, accepted the Freemanship at an evening ceremony.
Earlier he visited Knoxland Primary and Dumbarton Academy to meet pupils.
And the 70-year-old also took time out to speak to the Reporter about his life growing up in Milton, dyslexia and his immense pride at being recognised by his hometown.
