A GOLF-MAD teen is in dreamland after meeting some of the sport"s superstars as they played at Loch Lomond at the weekend.

And it was also an opportunity for scoreboard carrier Craig Hughes to add to his growing collection of autographed golf balls, as it was his second year working at the Scottish Open.

The 15-year-old has revealed that his brush with the golfing elite has spurred him on to improve his own game at Dumbarton Golf Club, where he is a member.

He carried the scoreboard for four different games throughout the glamourous tournament.

Craig, who will be going into fifth year at Dumbarton Academy in August, got signed balls from 2008 Open champion Graeme McDowall and current Masters winner Angel Carbrera.

This was after he had met other pros last year, including Englishman Lee Westwood, who also gave him a signed memento from his work on the Bonnie Banks course. Craig told the Reporter: 'It was such a great opportunity, I jumped at working at the Open again.

'The course is beautiful, and the rounds of golf I got to work on were brilliant and featured some of the best players in the world. Just being able to walk the course is fantastic, while I also saw Ian Poulter, who is probably the player on the tour who I wanted to watch the most.

Barclays Scottish Open saw thousands flock to Loch Lomondside from Thursday to Sunday, to watch as German Martin Kaymer played his way to victory.
