Inspirational women now hope to add £50k to total with celebrity cookbook

AN inspirational group of women have launched a recipe book - with the help of some celebrity friends - which they hope will raise vital funds for researching a killer disease.

The Think Pink Scotland Committee, which is behind the venture, is made up of five ladies from Drymen who have all been affected by breast cancer, three of whom are survivors.

Founders Lynn Murray and Ann Graham decided to start raising funds in 2006 whilst they were receiving chemo and radiotherapy treatments in their battle to beat the cancer.

And after smashing their ambitious target of £10,000 in no time, just three years on the women have raised a staggering £200,000.

It has only taken the dedicated volunteers eight months to produce the book - Fantastic Recipes for a Fantastic Cause - which has contributions from Gordon Ramsay, Lloyd Grossman, Judy Murray has provided tennis ace Andy's favourite dish, First Minister Alex Salmond and comedian Elaine C Smith.

The ladies have a fundraising target for this project of £50,000 which will go towards a laboratory at the new Translational Research Centre in Garscube Estate, Glasgow, as part of the £10m Beatson Pebble Appeal campaign.

Copies of the book can be purchased for £15 at Borders Glasgow, on Buchanan Street, or online at www.thinkpinkscotland.org.

The book will be available by the end of September at all Borders stores in Scotland.
