Massive police presence at Orange walk
POLICE were out in force at Saturday's Orange march in Dumbarton to quell any hint of trouble in the town.
Around 70 officers were drafted in to marshal 160 participants and around 100 spectators, which ensured there were no arrests related to the event.
The high levels of policing came on the back of what one councillor described as "heightened tensions" in the town, in the lead up to this march, the second in a matter of months.
But Brian Adam, chairman of the Pride of the Rock Flute Band, which organised the event to mark its 21st anniversary, said: "We were more than delighted with the way it went."
Mounted officers, police on motorbikes and a high number of beat cops lined the route, while a mobile CCTV unit monitored the High Street.
Also, specially assigned officers could be clearly seen filming and photographing spectators.
