A BRAVE schoolboy who 'beat the bullies' was given an early Christmas present on Saturday when he switched on Dumbarton's festive lights.
Baillie Hoyland, 10, from Castlehill, was left jumping for joy when he was given the news on Friday that he had been chosen to carry out the privileged task.
His family had nominated him after he overcame a bullying episode.
Baillie, who goes to Dalreoch Primary in Castlehill, rubbed shoulders with all the fabulous performers on Saturday before pushing the plunger - alongside Santa and the YOUR Radio Roadshow team.
Dad Jonathan and mum Elidh were so proud of their eldest son and watched on along with his twin siblings Aaron and Ciaran, seven.
Elidh said: "He absolutely loved the day, although he did get a bit stage struck, which I was surprised about. But he said it was because he had never seen as many people in one place all looking at him.
"He loved being in with all the singers and dancers and when they were rehearsing he thought it was just a private show for him - it was amazing.
"He's gone back to school a wee bit more outgoing and has been telling all his friends about it.
"I thought he was fantastic and I was really proud of him."
