A COUPLE has been left £2,500 out of pocket after the collapse of low-cost airline FlyGlobespan.
Christine and Pat Tonner had booked a total of 15 flights with the Edinburgh-based company long before it went bust just weeks before Christmas.
And with a special family trip to Portugal, as well as a city break to Spain, now in jeopardy the Dumbarton East pair are desperately attempting to get their cash back.
Pat, 57, told the Reporter: "We have flown with FlyGlobespan at least six times before and found them to be absolutely great which was why I had no worries about booking with them.
"I had used my Visa Electron debit card to book all the flights, which is certainly a warning to anyone else who is using the internet for flights.
"I was shocked at the collapse of FlyGlobespan given that it was a well established company and there were obviously a lot of people who had booked and paid for flights with it."
The Tonners were meant to be going to Seville for six days in April with another couple to enjoy the Sevilla Feria - an annual traditional Spanish festival.
And then Pat booked 11 flights for his family, including his three children and two grandchildren, to go to a villa in Portugal for a relaxing Summer holiday in August.
Even though Pat is still confident of eventually getting his money back, he realises it will be a long and drawn out process.
Just last week the accountants chasing creditors of the failed airline took legal action against the company that was handling online ticket sales.
