Dealer's drug hotline cut off

MEETING: Football pitches
A DRUG dealer operating a hotline for heroin was busted when tipped off cops went undercover to snare him.
Police were given information from members of the public that Raymond Gillespie was peddling the potentially killer drug in a Dumbarton housing estate.
Greedy Gillespe, who used his mobile phone to arrange deals, was willing to sell to complete strangers and used public locations for the exchanges.
So, when undercover officers obtained his phone number they put into operation a carefully planned sting to cut him off.
The officers were able to arrange a series of fake deals to get the evidence to put him behind bars.
The 32-year-old is this week beginning a lengthy jail term after admitting dealing the class A drug, which has ruined countless lives in the area, at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.
A delighted Inspector Ian Wallace, of Dumbarton police, said: "It was a long, detailed investigation with a lot of man hours spent using intelligence sourced from amongst the community.
"It is heartening when all that work comes together and somebody is sentenced for a serious crime.
"Hopefully this sort of sentence should act as a warning as to what can happen to those who participate in drug dealing in the community."
