THE hunt is on for a slasher who slit a man's face while he sat in his car - in a random attack outside his home.

The 55-year-old victim is said to have been left anguished and unable to understand why he was targeted.

The attacker is described as being around 50-years-old, but police admit they do not have much to go on and have appealed for information.

Meanwhile, high visibility patrols have been increased in the area to reassure the shocked community.

The victim, a resident of Luss Road, Alexandria, was reversing his car into his drive at around 8.10pm on Wednesday night when he was set upon.

He is expected to need further medical treatment to his wound despite being discharged from hospital.

The suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 8ins tall, stocky build, approximately 50 years of age with receding hair and wearing a tanned jacket.

Information can be passed to Dumbarton CID on telephone number 01389 822059 or alternatively CRIMESTOPPERS can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
