POLICE are hunting a potentially dangerous man who punched a five-year-old boy in the face in a supermarket toilet.
The shocking incident left the primary school pupil with a swollen face and traumatised.
This week, the boy's mother spoke of the chilling incident in the ASDA store in Dumbarton, which happened as her son was using the male toilets.
The woman, who asked not to be identified, said: "I had been in ASDA for about five or ten minutes and my son told me he needed the toilet and off he went - he went into the men's toilet.
"I was standing outside waiting for him and after five minutes I started to wonder what was going on and why it was taking so long.
"A man came running out the toilet in quite a hurry - I asked him if there was a boy in the toilet.
"He stuttered and said yes then left the store.
"Two minutes later my son came out screaming and said a man punched him - his face was all red and swollen."
Police had a suspect, but have since ruled him out, and are now appealing to the public for help regarding the attack on Sunday January 24 at around 3.30pm.
The incident took place at ASDA in St James Retail Park, Dumbarton.
Police are looking for a white man, 5ft 6ins tall with short dark hair and dark clothing.
