THE shocked family of a young man who tragically died at the weekend say they are still expecting him to walk through the door.

Dean Geary had been on a night out in Glasgow with his pals on Saturday but never made it home.

Speaking from the family home in Tullichewan on Monday Dean's father, John, 42, told how his son had woken him up with a phone call just hours before he died.

John said Dean was trying to find out where his pals were, and they chatted briefly.

John said: "He was phoning me thinking I was one of his pals - this was at 3.30am

"He was trying to get hold of his pals - he didn't sound threatened."

The Vale of Leven Juniors player, who worked at Coulport naval base, had planned to return to his home on Bannachra Crescent in Alexandria that night.

A shaken and devastated John, said: "The last thing he said was "where are you?".

Police are appealing for further information in relation to the discovery of Dean's body at 5.30am on the A811 Drymen to Gartocharn road in the early hours of Sunday.

Police believe Dean had got into a taxi in Glasgow, and are appealing for the driver of the taxi to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Donnie Gunn said: "We are extremely keen to trace the driver of a taxi who we believe picked Dean up in Glasgow city centre.

"The journey may have been to the area of Alexandria, Gartocharn or Drymen but we do not know where he got out of that vehicle."
