PERSONAL items belonging to Dean Geary - the young man who was found dead beside a road last Sunday - are "unaccounted for", police confirmed this week.

On Wednesday, shock turned to horror in the community as police announced the 19-year-old's death was being treated as "suspicious".

Police have said they are investigating a number of possible causes as to how Dean sustained his fatal injuries "including being struck by a vehicle or assaulted".

Fingertip searches of the roadside, where Dean's body was found, have been carried out.

And in the early hours of this Sunday morning, a week to the day when the young man died, police stopped drivers travelling along the A811 Gartocharn to Drymen Road in a bid to find answers as to what happened.
