Blaze victim dies

Print | Email

A GRANDMOTHER who was injured after being caught in a house fire last week has lost her fight for survival.

Aileen Lindsay, 51, who suffered burns and smoke inhalation in the blaze, clung to life for a week in Glasgow Royal Infirmary but sadly passed away on Sunday.

Fire ripped through her daughter's home in Lynn Walk, Dalvait, Balloch, on Saturday February 13.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined and although police have said it is not being treated as a criminal matter at this point, the officer in charge of the investigation is not ruling out the possibility of that changing.

Detective Inspector Ross McCallum, of Clydebank CID, said: "Circumstances at this stage are unexplained, all avenues are open, criminal or non-criminal. Tests are being carried out and lines of enquiry are being followed."

It is believed Aileen had been visiting her daughter Catherine Nixon, her husband Barrie and their two children Charlie, three and Nathan, 10, who live at the property.
