CONCERNED nursery toddlers spontaneously began chanting "save the bees" when their teacher told them about the insects' unfortunate plight.
The problem of dwindling bee populations has got the kids buzzing and they have been stung into action.
They are now gathering in much needed sugar, which they will donate to a unique project to help feed the endangered insect through the Winter.
As they take their donations to the drop off point at Balloch Library they all walk in line chanting "save the bees, save the bees".
The man behind the scheme, bee keeper Eric McAthur, was moved almost to tears when he was told of the youngsters' natural concern and enthusiasm.
An emotional Eric said: "It makes me want to weep - we have got to do something now, if we lose another Summer, it could be critical.
"It is going to be hard to get bees through the Winter, they are dying all over the country like flies.
"Once the Winter gets better the sugar raised will get banged right into the hives.
"The campaign is growing and the whole thing could go nationwide.
"I have to thank West Dunbartonshire Council, it is the only council that is fostering and helping the bees."
Bags of sugar can be handed in to any library in West Dunbartonshire.
