A 74-year-old inventor has unveiled his latest product in his unwavering mission to drastically cut carbon emissions.

Willie Gallagher, has created an exhaust filter which, he says, could prevent two million tonnes of carbon being released in the UK alone.

Passionate Willie has been unperturbed by the lack of interest from manufacturers in his past inventions, which included an eco-friendly electro magnetic drive for cars.

He is now using his network of international contacts to pitch his latest patented design, a vehicle exhaust carbon filter system.

The Reporter spoke to Willie about his latest environment-saving concept.

He said: "I will prove how I have reduced the carbon threat that has puzzled the scientific minds of today.

"I decided to leave the carbon engine alone for the mean time and decided to work on preventing the carbon emissions that are polluting the atmosphere.

"I have been working on this for nine months - I'm terribly optimistic, I know it is going to take-off like a bomb."

Willie explains that a filter which retains all the carbon emissions would result in substantial additional weight, however by retaining just a small percentage and replacing the filter every 1,000 miles, the device could provide a vital tool in saving the environment.

The Balloch inventor's design has even caught the interest of a CNN correspondent who replied in an email to Willie that the design is "so important in our fight against global warming".
