TRADE unions will lobby councillors to join them in "a fight they must win".
Members of four unions will gather outside West Dunbartonshire Council headquarters before its full monthly meeting on Wednesday night (June 30) as part of their campaign "against cuts in jobs and services".
A petition with more than 700 signatures will be handed over to WDC before the meeting, however a union co-ordinator claimed this is just the "tip of the iceberg" of support behind their cause.
Tom Morrison, Unison's West Dunbartonshire branch chairman, is hoping councillors and the community will join them in their protest at 5pm.
Mr Morrision said: "It is to try and bring together the trade union movement and the community against cuts in our jobs and services. We want to create unity between service providers and users.
"We will be presenting our petition to elected members.
"We want our councillors to demand extra resources to maintain jobs and services rather than implement cuts to our jobs and services.
"Protests are taking place all over the country - we are not alone and resistance is building, this is a fight we must win.
"We hope this pressure will have an effect on the council leadership and they will start taking our ideas into account."
