A DOUBLE killer - who stabbed two men to death - is now working with vulnerable children on outward bound trips.
Allan Shreenan, 41, from Dumbarton, was sentenced to seven years for killing Sean Gillespie in 1992, however, following his early release from prison, went on to kill Robert McKenna in 1999.
Shreenan stabbed Mr Gillespie during a street fight in Dumbarton and was found guilty of culpable homicide.
He was freed from prison after serving just half of his sentence and then stabbed Robert McKenna to death in Cardross when the 36-year-old came at him with a golf club.
During the subsequent trial, the court again found him guilty of culpable homicide due to provocation.
This week it emerged that Shreenan has recently been working as a volunteer with youngsters at Wild by Nature Club - helping to take kids and adults with special needs hill walking, camping and canoeing around Loch Lomond and the Trossachs.
Cliff Giddings from the club, which is based in Lanarkshire, told the Reporter that it was the company's intention to work with community groups in the West Dunbartonshire area in the future.
An angry relative of one of the Shreenan's victims has described him as a 'dangerous and psychotic man'. She said: "He is evil and brutal, he carried out two savage killings."
But speaking to the Reporter yesterday (Monday) Shreenan claimed he has turned his life around and said he was looking for forgiveness.
He said: "I would just like to say that I apologise for what happened in the past and hope they will forgive me at some point.
"What I have been doing is to try and change and adjust my life.
"I've been working with people and just trying to get on with my life and help other people change their lives."
Mr Giddings added: "Although [Allan] can never turn the clock back, he has a desire and is making respective actions to try and put something back into the community.
"He plans to give talks in prison on the attitude needed to change and not turn to crime once out."
