ALERT: The River Clyde at Dumbarton

A FLOOD alert has been issued for Dumbarton today (Wednesday).

A spell of heavy rain coupled with some snow melt has seen river levels rising across the area.

There remains a possibility of coastal flooding due to a combination of high storm surge, wind and waves.

At risk are exposed low lying coastal areas.

Specific areas at risk include low lying areas of Dumbarton.

High water in the Clyde is expected after 2pm this afternoon.

The public are advised to take care and to avoid areas at risk where possible. SEPA continue to monitor the situation and will issue updates as necessary.
