TRAGEDY: Gordon 'Guido Lennon' died in an off-roading accident
THE death of Sons captain Gordon Lennon in an off-roading accident was "tragic untimely".
Dumbarton FC heron Gordon, known as Guido, 26, was electrocuted after the vehicle he was in struck an electricity pole in a Ross-shire estate in June 2009.
A Fatal Accident Inquiry has ruled that driver was travelling too fast for the conditions.
Gordon had been a passenger in the 4x4 which crashed into an electricity pole on the Brahan Estate.
Among the large group of people on the estate were Gordon's parents Alex and Silvana, his fiancee Kelly Dempsey and the couple's baby son Kai.
According to the FAI report, the pole snapped on impact and live 32,000-volt electric cables fell onto the vehicle.
Tragically, Mr Lennon was electrocuted as he tried to escape and, despite being rushed, to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, was pronounced dead.
Sheriff MacFadyen said the accident could have been avoided if driver Fraser Hughes, 24, had driven with "sufficient care and attention and maintained proper control" and at a "lower speed appropriate to the conditions".
Sheriff MacFadyen said: "Mr Lennon's death can only be described as tragic and untimely.
"I offer my personal condolences to all of his family."
