CAMPAIGN: Snuff it out

HERE is what is making the headlines in Dumbarton & the Vale this week.

THE Reporter unveils its get tough Snuff It Out campaign against the arsonists causing mayhem across Dumbarton and the Vale of Leven.

For months our proud, hard-working communities have suffered endless attacks from vandals torching homes, cars, businesses and public buildings.

In response, we are teaming up with Strathclyde Police, West Dunbartonshire Council and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, to try and stop the fire-raising.

DUMBARTON:HOOLIGANS who break the law at Dumbarton's trouble-plagued East End Park face legal bans from returning there, the Reporter can exclusively reveal.

Crown Office bosses have responded to pressure to impose banning orders on Buckie-swilling louts who wreak havoc in the vicinity.

The park has become a magnet for trouble makers, especially during the summer months, when Householders are faced with disorder and drunkenness.

ALEXANDRIA:VALE beauty Leigh Cunningham is having another shot at glamour glory after winning through to the finals of Miss Great Britain International.

The Balloch stunner narrowly missed out on reaching the last 10 for the Miss Scotland crown, despite wowing judges with her stunning looks and sexy photo-shoots.

But Leigh, 20, had also applied for next year's MGBI - and judges fast-tracked her entry to get her into this year's competition.

DUMBARTON: THE heartbroken relatives of a dad tragically killed in a horror road smash are set to scale the last hill they ever climbed together as a family in his memory.

Castlehill father-of-four Shaun McArthur's family and friends will scale Ben A'an in the Trossachs in a bid to raise cash for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).

Shaun, 35, died last month after the van he was travelling in collided with a heavy goods lorry on the A77 at Maybole, near Ayr.
