IT'S time to Snuff It Out - this week we are unveiled our hard-hitting campaign to name and shame the arsonists causing mayhem across Dumbarton and Vale of Leven.

Our journalists are teaming up with key agencies, including Strathclyde Police, West Dunbartonshire Council and Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, to help eliminate fire-raising.

For months our proud, hard-working communities have suffered endless attacks from vandals torching homes, cars, businesses and public buildings.

Devastated householders have narrowly avoided serious injury or even death because of crazed attacks. The town's taxi drivers have been targeted deliberately in a series of horror burnings.

Were it not thanks to the speedy response of firefighters, increased police patrols, and community vigilance, lives would have been lost.

But still the attacks are going on.

Only last week there were a further SIX incidents of wilful fire-raising in the area with Bonhill again bearing the brunt.
