New video for loch users
A NEW online video about boat safety and maintenance has been launched by the National Park.
Produced with the help of experts Clyde Outboard Services, the short film covers a number of invaluable tips for people heading out onto the water.
Guy Keating, Loch Lomond's ranger service manager, said: "We're pleased to be able to offer this information in what we feel is a friendly, engaging way.
"Watching this video is an excellent introduction to boat and engine maintenance and we hope our many boat users take the time to log on and check it out. If the video prevents even one single incident of a boat user getting into difficulty, then it will be more than worthwhile."
With information including how to get an engine's fuel/oil mixture right, making sure a boat's electrics are properly connected, how to check your battery and how to check fuel and breather valves before setting off for the day, the video is presented by an experienced boat mechanic and explains what to do in simple, understandable terms.
There's also advice about what to do if something goes wrong on the water including dropping anchor and who to call.
The video can be found on the National Park website www.lochlomond-trossachs.org and visitors to the Duncan Mills Memorial Slipway will be able to view the video in the reception.
