RESIDENTS in Dumbarton and the Vale are being reminded to remain vigilant when using the area's ATM machines.

On Thursday afternoon police received a report from the Royal Bank of Scotland, situated on Dumbarton's High Street, saying they had discovered a skimming device on one of their machines.

The devices are often used to record people's card details or pin numbers which are then used later by crooks.

Officers urged any member of the public who comes across anything suspicious to report it to them or the bank immediately.
