RESCUE: The search helicopter over the River Leven

THE search is continuing for a woman who was reported missing after falling into the River Leven last night (Monday).

Clyde Coastguard confirmed that they were alerted to the incident at 7.20pm and emergency services were scrambled to the scene.

An air rescue helicopter from HMS Gannet was also called out and later stood down after carrying out sweeping searched of the River between Alexander Street, Alexandria, and Dumbarton.

A man who reportedly went in after the woman was rescued safely from the water.

The search was called off last night due to poor visibility and resumed this morning.

Strathclyde Police confirmed at lunchtime that this search is still ongoing.
