TWO thugs who killed a friend before dumping his naked body into a river have been given life sentences.
Stephen Crawford (24) and Darren McDevitt (20) today returned to the High Court in Glasgow after being convicted of murdering Michael Herbison.
Mr Herbison was stabbed and shot with an air rifle during the vicious attack on August 29 last year.
The 35 year-old's naked corpse was discovered the next day after he had been thrown into the River Leven in Renton, West Dunbartonshire.
Crawford and McDevitt were ordered to serve a minimum 18 years behind bars.
Judge Lord Matthews told them: "This was a callous and brutal way to treat another human being."
McDevitt smiled and gave a thumbs up to friends as he and Crawford were lead handcuffed to the cells.
