A BONHILL teen was busted by police after looking for indecent images of children on his Playstation. Kevin Martin's family home was raided by officers armed with a search warrant on May 21 last year.

The 19-year-old was at work at the time but cops were allowed entry to the house by his dad and seized two laptops and the games console.

The teen was later interviewed by police and admitted he had been downloading the disturbing images for around two years. Last week he appeared in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court and pled guilty to possessing a quantity of indecent or pseudo photographs of children between March 6, 2010 and April 20, 2012.

Lynn Jamieson, fiscal depute, told the court after receiving intelligence officers swooped on Martin's home at around 9.20am.

The items seized were then sent to be examined by experts - including an HP laptop recovered from the house which had been used to access 104 indecent images of children.

The images ranged from level one to level five - with level five images classified as the worst.

No indecent images were found on the Playstation however internet search analysis showed terms like "jail bait", "webcam" and "schoolgirl" had been searched for.

Another laptop recovered from the family home was also found to have been used to obtain a further 80 images ranging from levels one to four as well as a number of movies, although there was no evidence to suggest Martin had been distributing the content to others online. Police then detained Martin at his work and he was taken to Dumbarton Police Office where he was interviewed.

After waving his right to a solicitor, Martin admitted he had viewed indecent images for about one-and-a-half to two years. He told police the reason he had started looking at them was because a family member had been abused when they were young.

Martin also said viewing the images made him feel sick and he would never touch children, but that it was in his head to view the pictures.

He admitted he was unable to download the images on the Playstation but that he had tried to view them on the console's internet browser.

At the end of the interview he was cautioned and charged and made no reply. Sheriff William Dunlop placed Martin on the Sex Offenders Register and deferred sentence until May 2 in order for the court to obtain social work reports.
