Jack McPhail, 38, became involved in a row after his father refused to buy him beer on July 1, 2013.

He also became abusive with the police and struggled with two cops who were called out to his parents Renton home.

Last week he appeared in the dock at Dumbarton Sheriff Court.

Claire Martin, fiscal depute, said McPhail became argumentative and threatening towards his father while at his parents’ home address in Renton because his dad had refused to buy him beer.

The police were contacted and officers on mobile patrol nearby attended at the property and were allowed entry.

McPhail, who appeared to cops to be drunk, then walked from a room in the house and started shouting and swearing when he was asked for an explanation and referred to his dad as a “paranoid android”.

He was asked to calm down but continued shouting and became abusive towards one of the cops.

He then started struggling violently when police attempted to arrest him but was eventually handcuffed and carried from the premises as he was refusing to walk.

Sheriff Simon Fraser fined McPhail, of McCulloch Lane, Alexandria, £250 and made him the subject of a community payback order for a year.
