Figures published last week have shown only 94.2 per cent of cases in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (GGC) have met the waiting times target of two months or 62 days.

Dumbarton and Vale MSP, Jackie Baillie says more needs to be done to help the hard-working nurses and doctors in our hospitals. The MSP said: “It is disappointing that some cancer patients are still forced to wait more than two months between referral and receiving treatment.

“It is also concerning that some patients in Greater Glasgow and Clyde have been stuck on waiting lists for up to four months.

“We know that early diagnosis and early treatment result in better outcomes for cancer patients. This is why the targets are so important.

“Frankly, patients in Dumbarton, Vale of Leven and Helensburgh deserve better so the Health secretary must set out exactly how he intends to improve treatment for cancer patients. We urgently need more resources to meet the increasing demands of patient care.”
