Each month the supermarket, which opened its doors in October, donates £1,000 to a Community Matters scheme.
Staff and customers then nominate three good causes from the area they think should benefit from the funding.
At the checkout, customers receive a green token to place in the box for the charity they’d most like to support. The more tokens a cause gets, the bigger the donation they receive.
Over the past two months, the Milton animal home in Dumbarton and Luss Primary School have all benefited from the scheme.
Brian Murrie, manager at the store said: “We’ve been open for almost six months and through our Community Matters scheme we’ve been finding out how many good causes there are to support in Helensburgh and the surrounding areas.
“We’re keen for more customers to nominate their favourite causes. We also have 250 hours of volunteering time available to any charity that needs a helping hand — so please get in touch.” Customers can nominate their favourite local charities and good causes by picking up a nomination form for Partner Volunteering or Community Matters in branch.
