More than 1,500 pupils are giving up their Easter holidays and attend the Easter Revision Programme at schools across Dumbarton and the Vale.

The youngsters are knuckling down in a bid to achieve better results, with their exams just round the corner.

And the local authority is doing its bit to try and help.

Easter Revision classes are just one of a host of new initiatives being used to provide additional support and guidance as part of West Dunbartonshire Council’s commitment to Raising Attainment and Achievement.

Vale of Leven Academy will welcome 300 eager pupils, holding twice daily sessions.

And Dumbarton Academy pupils can also get involved, as the school gets ready to welcome 117 of them to a revision week, with 47 per cent of S4 pupils signed up to 346 sessions. Our Lady and St Patrick’s High School is also running an extensive programme, with classes spread over two weeks, offering a variety of subjects with the school expecting more than 450 pupils to attend the sessions.

Pupils who attended the Easter Revision week and Masterclasses last year said they were ‘very beneficial,’ giving them a chance to refresh their memory and work on areas they felt they needed additional support.
