That was the message from the area's MSP, who loaned her support to national Volunteers’ Week.
Jackie Baillie MSP got behind the campaign, saying there was a diversity of volunteer opportunities this year, with 2014 being a “significant year” for Scotland.
The Commonwealth Games will see 15,000 'Clyde-sider' volunteers help out throughout the two weeks of events. And 2014 also marks another celebration, with 30 years of Volunteer Scotland.
Ms Baillie said: “Volunteering is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills and give something back to the community. Thousands of volunteers are giving freely of their time to play a vital role in the Commonwealth Games this summer and I am glad so many local people are taking part.
“We have a rich tapestry of community involvement and those involved should be recognised for their efforts and the positive perspective of Dumbarton, the Vale of Leven and Helensburgh and Lomond that they contribute towards.” If you want to join the celebrations this year by volunteering or want to find out more, visit: www.volunteerscotland.org.uk
