The baton will be welcomed by operators, Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS), service users and staff on Friday of this week.

And they can’t wait to be part of the celebrations.

Service user, Sanjeev, who receives support from CHAS at Robin House for respite care, will carry the baton on a lap of the grounds.

The 17-year-old told us: “I am very excited to be carrying the baton for Robin House and I’m sure it will be a fantastic experience. It’s an honour to participate in the Commonwealth Queens Baton Relay.” Sanjeev said he is incredibly interested in all sport, and is set to go to seven Commonwealth events whilst the Games are on in Glasgow.

Those include the 100m final, the heavyweight boxing final, and the closing ceremony.

There will also be a chance for all CHAS children to have their picture taken with the baton themselves. And to mark the occasion, Robin House will be holding its very own mini games ahead of the baton’s arrival.

The programme includes a wellie boot throwing contest, an obstacle course as well as relay and space hopper races. An official medal ceremony will be held with the winners receiving their prizes from Sky Sports reporter Gerry McCulloch.

The baton is expected to arrive at Robin House at 5.18pm and, with the eyes of the world expected to be on them, those involved Robin House say they “can’t wait” for the celebrations to begin.
