The relay passed the centre on Friday morning signifying the start of two days of games, fun and celebrations. That saw the Artizan Community Hub play host to a number of Commonwealth inspired games – and the news was good for Scotland ahead of the Glasgow games, with all the winners home-grown.

On Saturday and Sunday the Centre was fitted out with an athletics track, medals, winner’s podium and a giant stopwatch as it staged some fun and games with a difference.

The fun two-day sport-themed event was aimed at all the family with plenty of fun activities for all ages.

A spokesman for the centre said: “Scotland is really getting Games fever and that’s true of Dumbarton as well, so we decided to give the town a taste of some events with a difference and it’s proved very popular.

“Everyone who has come has had a really good time and there has been some fantastic entertainment as well.” There was a test of artistic skills in Pictionary, thumb wrestling and against-the-clock events like eating Skittles sweets with chopsticks – all aimed at getting people in the Games mood and giving Dumbarton a head start in the medals table.
