Kieran Halliday was just 16 when he assaulted the woman at Cables Drive in the Old Bonhill area last November.
The Elmbank Road teen seized the woman by her clothing, pulled her to the floor and struck her head on the floor. He then threw an ashtray at her, striking her on the body.
Dumbarton Sheriff Court heard how the Halliday had been told to be of good behaviour after admitting the incident. Reports into the teen showed he had stayed out of trouble since November.
But, appearing at court last Tuesday, Halliday, now 17, was warned that, although he would not have a criminal record, the courts would be able to see his previous offending should he appear in front of them again.
Sheriff Simon Fraser told him: “I am giving you an absolute discharge on this occasion, but be assured, this only happens once.”
