The 15-year-old dropped into the YOUR Radio studios last week to chat about her whirlwind rise to fame following a stunning audition on the show.

Joined by her dad Ian, 51, and mum Lisa, 45 Emily treated listeners at the Reporter’s sister station to a song named ‘Him,’ which she wrote last year.

Clutching her guitar, the teenager chatted excitedly about being given the thumbs-up by X Factor supremo Simon Cowell.

“It was absolutely crazy,” she beamed. “It’s so surreal because you’re in front of the four biggest people in the music business, and to hear comments from Simon and Cheryl it was just, wow, Breathtaking.” “Simon said, ‘you can be one of the special ones this year,’ and I was like, ‘what? Thank you!’ “Twitter was crazy, there was people from France, Colombia, Spain, everywhere. And of course, Scotland, they’re my best supporters.” Singer and guitarist Emily, who proved her ambition at an early age by forging her mum’s signature on application forms for Britain’s Got Talent, has already been recognised for her unique voice.

Last year she beat off 9,000 hopefuls to win TeenStar in Birmingham NEC in July, performing her own song Goodnight Kiss.

But she revealed to us last Wednesday that she had kept her singing talent a secret until her appearance on Britain’s Got Talent.

“My mum and dad didn’t even know I could sing!” Emily laughed. “I said to them, ‘mum and dad — I’ve got an audition for Britain’s Got Talent tomorrow, I’ve sent away all the papers, I’ve forged your signatures,’ so I sent them all away and asked them for a day off school as I was going to a Britain’s Got Talent audition.

“My dad was like ‘to do what? What are you going to do?’ I was like, ‘I’m going to sing,’ and ever since then it was just a case of going on different talent competitions, doing gigs and just getting my name out there. Now I’m here. I would just love to inspire younger people to take up music because it’s a thing that can not only help your confidence, but also get your emotions out. It’s like your own kind of world. Music is kind of like a friend really.

“It’s my entire life — I love it.”
