POLICE are on the hunt for the vandal responsible for daubing offensive graffiti — including swastikas and political slogans — on buildings across Alexandria.
In one of the most recent incidents, grafitti – including Nazi symbols – was found on the wall of Scottish Water premises in Alexandria on Monday September 15.
Similar graffiti was found on a bridge under the A811, and sometime between 10am on Sunday, September 14 and Wednesday, September 17, ‘anti-coalition’ grafitti was scrawled on a pedestrian railway bridge at Burns Street.
Inspector Neil Smith of Dumbarton Police Office told the Reporter: “The grafitti is anti-Conservative Party and the person responsible seems to be protesting at the welfare policies of the coalition government.
“There have been a number of similar incidents previously and all the evidence points to the same individual being responsible for these crimes.
“I would appeal to the public to come forward and provide the information we need to arrest this individual who has caused a considerable amount of fear and alarm to the local community.” Anyone with information which can assist police in their inquiries should telephone the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.
