Jennifer Harley spoke yesterday of her family's grief since their dad has gone missing. She said: “Dad if you are reading this please please get in touch, we all love you to bits and just want you home. Your granddaughter is desperate to see you.” Concerns are growing in the town for Bellsmyre man Paul Harley who has been missing for more than a week.

The 53-year-old grandfather was last seen at 11am on Sunday, September 28 leaving his home in Whiteford Avenue.

Speaking to the Reporter, Jennifer Harley, 24, revealed the touching last texts she shared with her dad.

She said: “The day before he went missing I texted him to tell him I wasn’t feeling well and was going to bed.

“He replied and said ‘Dad loves you my wee angel.’ “Its awful, we just want to know he’s safe. We're just so worried.” Jennifer, who lives in the Midlands has now returned to Dumbarton to help in the search .

She added: “I saw him five weeks ago when I came up for the weekend and his mood was very up and down.

“Sometimes he didn’t want to do anything or go anywhere, and other days he’d be fine. The family are all staying together until we find him.

“We’re in constant contact with the police, they’ve searched his house and computer and they can’t find anything, it’s so draining on everyone. We’ve had so much support from the community, everyone is sharing his picture on Facebook and everyone wants to help."

Originally from Coatbridge, Paul works as a welder for Network Rail and Jennifer believes commuters could hold vital information on her father.

She explained: “He has a train pass, and uses it all the time. He can go anywhere with it and thats how he’s been getting around. I’ve been in contact with Scotrail and Virgin Trainlines who have issued an email to all their staff to look out for him.” There has been one unconfirmed sighting of the father-of-three at Dumbarton East train station when a young woman said a man resembling Paul engaged her in conversation, after meeting with Jennifer the woman said she couldn’t be certain.

Extensive enquiries have been carried out since he was reported missing to Police on September 29 by his son.

Speaking to the Reporter on Monday, his son Paul Jnr, 31, added that the family just want their dad to come home.

He said: “I’d just ask anyone who knows anything to contact the police. We’re really worried about him and just want to know he’s safe.” Police stepped up their investigation after Paul’s bank cards and phone had not been used in a number of days and concern is now mounting for his wellbeing as it is unknown whether he is carrying the medication he needs.

Flyers and leaflets have been posted as far as Glasgow to aid in the search and social media networks have been flooded with photos to help raise public awareness.

Paul is white, around 5ft 8 tall and of slim build. He has black receding hair, green eyes and a tattoo of “Kyla” on his right arm.

Inspector John McMillan has appealed for information, stating: “I would like to ask anyone who has seen or has had contact with Paul to contact me. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 as soon as possible.” His family have asked that anyone who has seen Paul or has any information to contact the Police.
