Scotland TranServ is resurfacing the carriageway between Bowling and Old Kilpatrick as part of Transport Scotland’s programme of investment across the region.

Road bosses say a contraflow system will be in place next weekend to manage traffic.

Andy Fraser, Scotland TranServ’s General Manager said: “Across this region, Scotland TranServ has delivered significant investment on behalf of Transport Scotland. From the M8, to the Erskine Bridge and Stoneymollan.

“This is part of an ongoing investment as we go about making south west Scotland’s trunk roads a network to be proud of.” On Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16 the northbound contraflow will begin at the Dunglass Roundabout, with the southbound before the slips to the Erskine Bridge.

Transerv has also said it necessary to close the small section of road at Gavinburn from the A814 Dumbarton Road, to prevent interruption to traffic on the main northbound carriageway of the A82 trunk road.

Scotland TranServ will liaise closely with West Dunbartonshire Council in order to reduce disruption to local drivers.

Russell Rennie, Scotland TranServ’s contract sirector added: “We’ve been working hard to create a good first impression on the thousands of visitors to Scotland, but more importantly making sure that a lasting legacy of road improvements is provided which will help local drivers in their daily commute and make life easier for freight drivers, as we deliver long-term benefits to these vital economic arteries.” Road users had complained about major delays caused on the A82 as Scotland Gas Networks began works in the area.
