Heather Hyslop — a first year pupil at the Vale of Leven Academy — has been described as ‘a lovely girl’ in tributes from friends, family, schoolmates, and teachers.

Catriona Robertson, head teacher at the Vale of Leven Academy, told the Reporter: “Heather was a lovely girl who was a credit to herself, the school and her family.

“She was a valued member of our first year and was popular with teachers and her fellow pupils. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.” Emergency services rushed to the scene in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 15) after Heather, 12, suffered what is believed to have been an asthma attack.

Members of the emergency services who attended the scene have been offered counselling.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police were called to the property in O’Hare at 3.45am after reports a 12 year-old girl had died. A post moterm will be carried out in due course. There is no reason to believe there were any suspicious circumstances.” As news of Heather’s tragic death began to spread, messages of condolence flooded in to her family through social media. One friend posted: “So god claimed another angel today, Heather I’m so devastated. Words can’t describe how I feel right now, can’t even stop crying, “I used to be so close to Heather and I don’t even know how I’m going to live without her, I’m in bits right now I actually can’t believe one of my best friends is gone, I know you’ll do great in heaven Heather I love you so so so much.” Another said: “RIP to the best person in the world shine bright Heather Hyslop.” A pal wrote: “Heaven gained a beautiful and lovely angel.

“Sleep tight and shine bright. Love you.” Heather’s family is being comforted by friends and relatives, but did not want to speak about her tragic death as the Reporter went to press.
