A WOMAN was sent to jail after she stealing from a high street store.

Michelle McDonald was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court.

She admitted to stealing a handbag and a quantity of jewellery from Marks and Spencers on Argyle Street on July 29 last year.

The court heard that after she shoplifted the items police caught up with the 29-year-old and then searched her.

Police found she had 0.3grams of heroin. Then she grabbed an officers fingers and bent them back.

She admitted that on July 29 at Stewart Street she had heroin in her possession.

She further admitted on the same day at the same place she assaulted a police officer.

McDonald, of Gorsehill Street, Cleland, was sentenced to six months imprisonment.
