Former Rangers star Nacho Novo has said he is “excited” to meet with punters at his Glasgow pub after he suffered a heart attack in Berlin.

Issuing a short statement through NN10’s Facebook page, Novo said: “I am feeling better and stronger and thanking you all for the support throughout the last few weeks. The continuous love and encouraging messages have really lifted my spirits.

“I’m excited to get back in to NN10 and see you all.”

Novo celebrated the opening of the Paisley Road venue just last month alongside hero Fernando Ricksen.

His model girlfriend from Busby, Stephanie Heaney, 33, also shared a picture of the footballer showing off his a new haircut outside a Paisley Road barber.

Novo, 38, was featuring for Rangers in the AOK Traditionsmasters 2018 in Berlin when he was taken ill on Saturday, January 6 after they had been knocked out of the round-robin tournament.

He was rushed to hospital from the Max-Schmeling-Halle arena before undergoing emergency surgery.

The Ibrox side was among those to confirm shortly after that Novo, who played at Ibrox between 2004 and 2010, was in a stable condition.

The Evening Times previously reported how dozens of vile trolls quickly flooded social media site Twitter with cruel comments aimed at Novo.

Many of the comments echo a “song” which has been sung and aimed at the 38-year-old in the past.

It contains the lyrics: “I hope you die in your sleep Nacho Novo, I hope you die in your sleep, I pray…”

One tweet said: “I hope you die in your sleep nacho novo.......”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Hope you die within a week nacho novo!”

“Nacho novo , won't see ten in a row,” was another tweet to have emerged.

Charity Nil By Mouth was among those to quickly condemn the trolls.
