A VALE man's life was described as “a game of two halves” in court this week.

Allan Campbell, 35, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court from custody after admitting a series of drug possession offences committed between October 2015 and February of this year.

He was found in possession of a quantity of cocaine at Lomond Road in Balloch on October 17 last year, and had a quantity of the same drug at his home address in Craig Avenue in Tullichewan in both January and February 2016.

In addition, the January search also found him with a quantity of amhpetamine.

Campbell appeared in court from custody on October 27, when his solicitor, Brian McGuire, said his client had been making “good progress” with a community payback order – until he was jailed for a separate offence on October 5.

His earliest release date from prison was given as January 3, 2017.

“This is very much a game of two halves,” Sheriff Maxwell Hendry told Campbell.

“You were doing reasonably well, and then it all fell apart, yet again.

“The order is still there, and I'm going to leave it there as a safety net.”

Continuing the case for a further review on January 5, the sheriff added: “If you're doing reasonably well we'll carry on and see where we can go from there.

“But you will scupper those hopes if you do something bad in your first few days out in the community.”
