Councillor Gail Robertson, Ward 2- Leven

CHRISTMAS and the festive season for me is a time for friendship and caring.

However, there are many who find the festive season a struggle.

For some that struggle began long before the first signs of Christmas, they have struggled all year to make ends meet, some having no choice but to seek support from local food banks and for them Christmas will only multiply the hardship they face.

For some this may be a time of sadness, facing the festive season with one fewer place setting at the table.

And for some who don't have family or friends close by it can be a lonely time.

We can all help make this festive season special for someone, perhaps a donation to a food bank or refugee group. Or just a friendly hello to a lonely neighbour.

There are shining examples working in our local community that can be seen day in day out, from volunteers in our local food banks to community groups helping those who may feel isolated to those caring for neighbours, friends and relatives. Those kind hearted, dedicated carers and volunteers deserve thanks and recognition for all that they do and the example they set for us.

Even the simplest of gestures can make a big difference; lets all try and do just one thing over the next couple of weeks. Together we can all make a difference.

Wishing you all a safe, warm and healthy Christmas and best wishes and hope for the New Year.
