A RENTON man who threatened a woman with violence in an offensive phone message to her has been handed a six-month curfew as a punishment.
Craig Winters, 40, of Taylor Street, committed the offence on Boxing Day 2015 and later admitted sending a message that was “grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character”.
Sentence on Winters had initially been deferred to assess his fitness for a punishment of unpaid community work – but his solicitor told Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Friday that a medical report explained it was unlikely Winters would be able to carry out such a sentence.
Winters' lawyer said his client would consent to a restriction of liberty order instead – and Sheriff Maxwell Hendry opted to go down that road, imposing a curfew which will keep Winters within his home address between 9am and 7pm every night until early December.
