IT was all smiles for two elders at Cardross Parish Church who've been honoured for a combined total of more than 80 years’ service.

John Russell, the church’s longest serving elder, and his wife Anne received certificates recently marking their service to the church.

John has been an elder at Cardross for more than 50 years, while Anne has filled the same role for more than 30 years.

The couple were honoured at a special service welcoming the church’s latest newly-ordained elders.

A busy summer at the church also included a fantastic family service on Sunday, July 9, in which children from the church’s ‘Guardians of Ancora’ summer club took part in a treasure hunt, sang new songs with the congregation, created a ‘memory verse’ in a record time and enjoyed viewing the highlights of their week’s activities.

It was also a very special occasion for Audrey and Peter Foster who have decided to take a well earned rest after organising and providing the art work for decorating the hall over the last five years.

The summer club’s participants spent the week on a series of quests as well as enjoying craft activities, games and songs.
